It Began in 2001....

  • Prior to 2001, Carey and Madeline Metts had been sponsoring a little girl in El Salvador through Compassion International.

  • A devastating earthquake in January of 2001 left the Metts with no way to find out if their Compassion child and her family were safe.

  • The Metts changed their vacation plans and traveled to El Salvador in April.

  • The home of their sponsored child had been destroyed, but she and her family with Compassion were unharmed!

  • "The greatest need in El Salvador," a local pastor shared with them, was a home to care for orphaned and abandoned children.

  • The Metts' church in the United States had sent them on this trip with $1,000. With that money in their pockets, Casa de Amor was born.
